Mirach M-Bus Master-48 Level Converter EN 13757 DIN Rail Module

M-Bus Master-48 Hardware & Electrical Specs

Ruggedized EN 13757 M-Bus level converter powering and polling up to 48 utility slave meters

In commercial and district energy networks, powering and interrogating disparate sub-meters across distant floors and basements typically requires expensive dedicated power wiring and complex star topologies.

Mirach M-Bus Master-48 adapter operates compliant with the European EN 13757-2 (physical) and EN 13757-3 (application) standards. It powers up to 48 standard M-Bus slaves directly over a standard 2-wire unshielded telephone or twisted-pair bus up to 12 kilometers in length, totally immune to polarity inversion.

EN 13757-2 / -3 Compliant 48 Standard Unit Loads 3 kV Galvanic Isolation RS-232 / RS-485 / USB Uplink Short-Circuit Self-Recovery Baud Rate 300 to 38400 bps

Integrated 3 kV galvanic isolation protects host PLC, SCADA, or BMS automation controllers against high-voltage ground loops and harsh industrial switching surges.

2-Wire Multi-Drop Interrogation Flow

Seamless meter discovery, slave remote powering, and SCADA data conversion

STEP 01

Bus Powering & Discovery

The master energizes the 2-wire bus with 36V nominal power, discovering water, heat, and gas meters via primary or secondary wildcard addressing.

STEP 02

Current Modulation Reading

Connected slave meters modulate bus current pulses to respond with encrypted hex telegrams containing cumulative volume, flow rate, and temperatures.

STEP 03

Protocol Level Conversion

The adapter levels up signals into clean RS-485 / Modbus RTU or USB streams, feeding Building Management Systems (BMS) and IoT gateways.

Industrial M-Bus ROI & Cabling Economics

Cut commercial sub-metering installation expenditure and wiring complexity

Installation & Capex Savings

  • Slave Capacity Per Adapter: Up to 48 Unit Loads
  • Cabling Infrastructure Expense: 60% Less Copper Wiring
  • Maximum Bus Segment Length: Up to 12 Kilometers
  • Polarity Inversion Protection: 100% Fail-Safe
